Columbia Hospital
Aquatic & Rehab Therapies
Columbia Hospital's Aquatic and Therapy Center is designed to benefit both pediatric and adult patients by employing a total approach to aquatic, physical, occupational, speech, and hand therapies. We proudly provide excellent diagnostic, therapeutic and restorative services and individualized outpatient treatment plans with medical and social services as needed to all of our patients.
Our aquatic therapy spa is a welcome relief for our patients, both adults and children, who participate in this beneficial program. Patients find the treatment an easy and pleasant experience.
Physical Therapy for orthopedic conditions (including back pain, arthritis, joint replacements, traumatic and sports injuries), neurologic conditions (including stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injuries), balance deficiencies and pelvic floor insufficiencies (bladder control problems). Specialty programs include post-mastectomy and lymphedema therapy, osteoporosis program, pre/post-natal conditioning and urinary incontinence.
Occupational Therapy assessments for patients with physical challenges to help develop or enhance activities of daily living. These activities may include bathing, grooming, dressing and eating. Occupational therapists and certified hand therapists may also provide specialized skills in custom hand splinting and comprehensive hand therapy for patients who have traumatic upper extremity injuries.
Hand Therapy helps a patient regain maximum use of his or her upper quarter (hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, cervical area or multiple joints) after injury, surgery or the onset of disease. Treatment is provided by a hand therapist, someone who first is trained as an occupational or physical therapist and then receives additional training in hand therapy.
Speech Pathology services are provided by a certified Speech-Language pathologist. These services are designed to meet the individual needs of each patient in the areas of speech, language, voice and swallowing. Videofluoroscopic swallow studies are also available.

Center for Breast Care
The Center for Breast Care offers help to the patient from diagnosis to treatment and, ultimately, to the return to daily life. Patients will consult with the appropriate medical experts in diagnostics, surgery, medicine and radiation oncology, as well as radiologists and nurses. Together with each patient, this team of professionals will help plan the most effective course of treatment.

Diabetes Education Center
The Diabetes Education Centers offer a variety of educational programs to meet the individual needs of people with diabetes. The centers are located at Columbia Hospital, JFK Medical Center and Palms West Hospital.
All care at the Diabetes Education Centers is provided under the direction of your personal physician. The Centers are directed and staffed by certified diabetes educators. Instruction is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of wellness educators who are experts in education, nutrition, exercise, medications and emotional support. The Centers provide one-on-one consultations and small group sessions. Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted when education is recommended by your physician. Diagnostic Imaging
The Diagnostic Imaging Department of Columbia Hospital is a full-service radiology department, specializing in interventional and women's imaging. Registered/Licensed Technologists of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists staff the department in addition to technologists with advanced certification in Cardiovascular Imaging, CT Scan Imaging, Cardiac Ultrasound Imaging, and OB/GYN Ultrasound Imaging. The Department is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art imaging equipment including the new GE Lightspeed CT Scanner, and the Hewlett Packard Sonos 5500 Digital Ultrasound system. Interventional and Vascular Radiography is performed with the Phillips Poly UA Digital Angiography System. The Department is open 24-hours a day and 7 days per week. Mental Health Services
The Pavilion at Columbia Hospital offers the most comprehensive psychiatric services available in Palm Beach County. The 88-bed inpatient unit is located adjacent to the hospital. We treat the psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, adults and seniors through a full range of programs that include individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication management, and aftercare.

At Columbia Hospital Wound Care, we specialize in the treatment of non-healing wounds. If you have a wound that has not healed within one to two months, we can help! The medical staff are highly trained in the latest treatments available. We are open from 8-4pm Monday through Thursday and from 8am-12 noon on Friday. We can be contacted at (561) 844-1029. Diabetes Education Center
The JFK Diabetes Education Center offers individual consultations for diabetes and all nutrition related illnesses. They organize small group classes and support groups directed and staffed by certified diabetes educators and a multi-disciplinary team of wellness experts in education, nutrition, exercise, and medication to meet the individual needs of people with diabetes. Medicare and most insurance plans cover services. The Diabetes Education Center was the first program in Palm Beach County certified by The American Diabetes Association. Emergency Services
Our expanded emergency department is staffed around the clock by board certified emergency physicians trained to treat everything from minor bumps to life-threatening emergencies. The department is equipped with advanced technology and offers unique services such as our Chest Pain Emergency Center, the latest protocols in stroke treatment, and Express Care for minor injuries and illness. Express Care service is available daily for minor injuries from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Rothman Center for Outpatient Surgery
The Rothman Center is home to a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center, which includes six large operating rooms that are endoscopically-equipped for minimally-invasive surgery. Sleep Disorders Center

Cardiovascular Services
Palms West's Cardiology Department assists with diagnosis, monitoring and treatment including EKG, holter application and editing, stress test assist and cardioversion assist. Other services include the Chest Pain Center and Cardiac Catheterization - a fully equipped lab, providing inpatient and outpatient procedures to determine the presence of heart problems.
Critical Care Services
The Critical Care Unit is an eight-bed unit equipped with a state-of-the-art monitoring system. The unit accepts all critically ill patients including surgical, medical, coronary and neurology patients. The staff of the Critical Care Unit is highly trained in all phases of critical nursing care.
Diabetes Education
The Diabetes Education Center is directed and staffed by certified diabetes educators and offers a variety of educational programs to meet individual needs. Instruction is provided by a multidisciplinary team of wellness educators who are experts in education, nutrition, exercise, medications and emotional support.
Emergency Services
Palms West Hospital offers emergency services around the clock. Services are provided by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and a highly qualified, caring nursing staff, supported by an environment and system structured specifically for the delivery of emergency care.
Food and Nutritional Services (FANS)

physician's diet orders.

registered dietitians.

All cafeteria and patient meals comply with the latest FDA regulations and are approved by a registered dietitian. Palms West Hospital serves at least one Heart Healthy dish at every meal to provide the employees and visitors with a low-sodium, lo-fat meal approved by the American Heart Association.
The Oasis Cafeteria is open to the public from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch, and 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for dinner.
Entrees range from $2.50 to $3.50 and include fresh salmon, roasted turkey and dressing, and a 30-item salad bar.
Complimentary coffee and tea is available from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and hot vending is available after hours. For the comfort of our patients, Room Service is available except during peak dining times. Using this amenity provides the patient with meals or snacks at other times of day.

Imaging Services
The Imaging Department provides state-of-the-art imaging services, which include general diagnostic, fluoroscopic and interventional radiography. Additionally, the Imaging Department provides Nuclear Medicine services and CAT Scan services.
Interventional imaging procedures performed at Palms West Hospital provide diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of potential conditions.
Angiography and Venography are defined as X-rays performed by inserting a thin tube into a blood vessel and injecting a drug that can be seen on a xray. This procedure will allow evaulation of the confition of blood vessels such as narrowing or blockage caused by hardening of the arteries or blood clots. Also, this procedure can evaluate the circulation of certain deseases such as tumors or abnormally shaped blood vessels called aneurysms.
Stents are a wire mesh which is expanded inside a blood vessel narrowed by hardening of the arteries or blood clot in order to improve the circulation.
Angioplasty is a method of widening a narrow blood vessel by temporarily inflating a balloon inside a blood vessel in order to improve the circulation. Sometimes both angioplasty and stenting are done at the same time to improve circulation.

Having a baby is one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life. So, we do all we can to make you and your family feel right at home. In 1986, we were the first healthcare provider in the western communities of Palm Beach County to open a dedicated obstetrics unit - Your New Life Center. These innovative private birthing suites at Your New Life Center come with a rocking chair, accommodations for dad, TV and VCR, even a refrigerator. The suites are equipped with today's most advanced medical technology, so that labor, delivery, pospartum and recovery can all take place in one room. Neonatal, C-section and anesthesiology facilities are located nearby with our entire medical and support staff available and prepared for any contingency.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Staffed b a comprehensive team of pediatricians, specialists and intensivists, the PICU provides that extra level of care whenever it's needed. It was designed for a high nurse-to-patient ration, with all nurses trained in pediatric life support.
Pediatric Anesthesiologist
Palms West Hospital is one of the few hositals in South Florida with a pediatric-certified anesthesiologist on staff. That's extremely important, as children have very different medical needs than adults.

Screening and Diagnostic Mammography
Palms West Hospital exceeds FDA and American College of Radiology mammography standards. Our certified mammography technologists use state-of-the-art equipment that provides optimal images with a low radiation dose. All mammograms are evaluated by two board-certified radiologists. Just as important, your results will be explained in language you can understand.

Stereotactic Breast Biopsies
Sterotactic breast biopsy is a minimally invasive, technologically advanced outpatient procedure that obtains suspicious breast tissue for diagnosis without open surgery and the need for general anesthesia. The procedure is performed by specially trained physicians. Recovery is rapid, with no disability and minimal discomfort.
Worker's Compensation Program
Our Company Care office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours, care for Worker's Compensation patients is provided through the Emergency Department.
Company Care services include drug screening, employee physicals, DOT testing, and injury care and follow-up.
Raulerson Hospital
CARDIOPULMONARY SERVICES
Raulerson Hospital provides services to our patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Cardiopulmonary Department is staffed by respiratory care practitioners, who are state licensed and work to evaluate, treat and care for patients with cardiac and pulmonary disorders. They work with patients of all ages and are qualified to perform intensive and critical care procedures. Respiratory care practitioners are part of the life-saving response team that act on patient emergencies.
Raulerson Hospital offers a wide range of cardiac and respiratory testing for inpatients and outpatients. Services include therapeutic treatments, EKGs, EEGs, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, carotid ultrasounds, and cardiac stress testing.

DIABETES EDUCATION
Raulerson Hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient Diabetes Education Services with individual educational sessions with the Diabetes Nurse Educator and Registered Dietician.
Our Outpatient Comprehensive Program consists of:
- 1 hour educational assessment
- 10 hours of diabetes self-management classes, some of which will include diabetes overview, medications, stress management, community resources, nutrition and meal planning.
- 3-month and 6-month follow sessions
- Gestational Diabetes educational sessions with Diabetes Nurse Educator and Registered Dietician
- Individual Insulin Start Program, instructions on insulin administration
- Insulin Pump Start Program

EMERGENCY SERVICES-24-HOUR COVERAGE
The Emergency Department offers service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to patients of all ages. Our medical staff and nursing staff are specially trained for the immediate treatment of any medical or surgical emergency or for initiating life-saving prodedures.

OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Raulerson Hospital offers three areas of Outpatient Services, pretest, medical and surgical for patients of all ages.
- Pretest performs nursing assessments, diagnostic labs, and EKGs for pre-surgical, pre-radiology, and special-procedures patients.
- Medical Services provides a full range of outpatient procedures including IV therapy, blood transfusions,IM/SQ injections, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
- Surgical Services performs pre-operative assessments and prepares patients for outpatient scope procedures and surgeries. Discharge education is also provided in this area.

Raulerson Hospital offers a Sleep Disorders Laboratory dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of Sleep Disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, periodic limb movements and insomnia. Cardiac Catheterization
The most recent addition to the Cardio-Pulmonary Department is a cardiac catheterization lab. A cardiac catheterization is the definitive test to determine if the coronary arteries are blocked or restricted in any way. This test can determine if blood flow is restricted to the heart muscle, which can cause pain and damage to the muscle.

Comprehensive Cancer Services
St. Lucie Medical Center provides a full spectrum of care to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families. Our Cancer Team strives to promote quality, comprehensive interdisciplinary care (research, prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care). Nutritional Services
The Food and Nutrition Department at St. Lucie Medical Center offers a wide variety of services on an inpatient and outpatient basis. During patient stays, a registered dietitian assesses each patient and educates them in accordance with their needs and diagnosis. They also work in conjunction with the entire interdisciplinary team to provide and meet all nutritional needs.
Outpatient visits are welcomed and encouraged. Incontinence - TVT Procedure
The TVT procedure is designed to treat stress
incontinence, a condition that causes an involuntary
loss of urine during everyday activities.
It is a simple, 30-minute, outpatient procedure
allowing the patient to go home the same day.
